Sam J. Collett, Jr. is a well respected civil litigation and criminal defense attorney with 30 years of broad-based experience at the pretrial, trial, and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. He has successfully handled a wide variety of legal matters for clients, ranging from civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, criminal defense, family law (divorce, child custody and community property law), and probate matters, among others. Sam has earned Martindale Hubbell’s highest “AV Preeminent” attorney peer review rating for legal ability and ethical standards with a perfect 5.0 out of 5.0 score.

Sam partnered with Jones Fussell, L.L.P., as a full equity partner, in January 2009 after practicing in Bogalusa, Louisiana, for over 28 years where he founded the Collett and Amacker Law Firm in 1987. He has been appointed as Special Prosecutor in the 22nd Judicial District Court and has served as Judge Ad Hoc in the City Court of Bogalusa.

Sam received his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University School of Law in 1980. For his undergraduate work, Sam attended Southeastern Louisiana University, graduating with a B. A. In 1977. He is admitted to practice in all State of Louisiana Courts and various Federal Courts. He is currently a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Greater Covington Bar Association and the Washington Parish Bar Association (President 1996-1997).

Born and raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Sam now resides in Covington with his wife, Tonda Spillman Collett. They have one son, Sam J. Collett, III.
